Thinking about changing your smile but not sure what you need, what it might involve, or whether it is even worth booking a visit? A virtual smile consultation is a low-pressure way to find out. You send us a photo of your smile, Dr. Zohdi looks at it himself, and you receive his honest first impressions: which treatments are likely to fit your goals, what is realistic, and whether an in-person visit makes sense.
It is important to be clear about what this is and is not. A photo review is educational. It can point you toward whitening, bonding, veneers, aligners or gum reshaping as the options worth discussing. It cannot diagnose decay, gum disease, cracks or bite problems, and no treatment plan or fee is final until Dr. Zohdi has examined you in person. There is no charge for the virtual consult and no obligation to proceed.
This page explains how it works, how to take a photo that is actually useful, what a photo can and cannot tell us, and what happens next.
How the virtual consult works
- Get in touch. Call our office at (817) 641-6261 or use the contact page and tell us you would like a virtual smile consult. We will explain how to send your photos and ask a few quick questions about what you would like to change.
- Send your photos. One good, close photo of your natural smile is the minimum. A second with lips pulled back to show the gum line, and a relaxed face-on portrait, add useful context.
- Dr. Zohdi reviews them. He looks at tooth color and staining, visible chips or wear, tooth shape and proportions, how much gum shows, and general alignment, then relates what he sees to the goals you described.
- You receive his recommendations. Usually within a few business days you will hear back with the treatments most likely to achieve your result, realistic expectations, any concerns he spotted that would need an in-person look, and a general sense of the range where that is possible.
The effort on your end is a few minutes. The reply gives you a clear starting point before you ever sit in the chair.

How to take a photo that helps
The quality of the review depends almost entirely on the quality of the picture. A few tips:
- Use daylight. Stand facing a window. Overhead bathroom lights cast shadows and yellow the teeth; flash flattens them.
- Smile the way you actually smile. A forced grin shows different teeth and more gum than your everyday smile. Think of something funny.
- Get close and hold still. Fill the frame with your mouth and the lower half of your face. Tap to focus on your front teeth.
- Add a "lips back" shot. Pull your lips away from your teeth with clean fingers so the gum line and the edges of all the front teeth are visible.
- Skip the filters. Beauty modes and whitening filters change exactly the things we need to see.
- Mention specifics. Tell us which tooth or feature bothers you. "The one on the left that looks gray" saves a lot of guessing.
If you have older photos that show when a tooth changed color or chipped, include them.
What a photo can tell us
From a good picture Dr. Zohdi can usually assess:
- Overall tooth color and whether staining looks like surface stain or deeper discoloration.
- Chips, worn edges and uneven lengths along the smile line.
- Tooth size and proportion relative to each other and to your face.
- Gaps, crowding and rotations that show from the front.
- How much gum shows when you smile and whether the gum line is even.
- Obvious old dental work on front teeth that would affect a whitening plan.
That is enough to say, for example, "your concern looks like color, so start with whitening," or "that chip is small and bonding should handle it," or "the shape and spacing you describe would probably point toward aligners first and perhaps veneers after."

What a photo cannot tell us
A photo shows surfaces. It does not show:
- Decay between teeth or under old fillings, which needs X-rays.
- Cracks, which often hide until a tooth is dried and examined under light.
- Gum disease or bone loss, which must be measured and imaged, and which has to be treated before any cosmetic work.
- Bite function, meaning how your teeth meet and move against each other, which determines whether porcelain will survive.
- The health of the nerve in a dark tooth, which needs testing.
- Exact color, because phone cameras and screens shift shades.
Dr. Zohdi will be transparent about what he can and cannot judge remotely. If something in the photo needs an in-person look before any recommendation is sound, he will say so rather than guess.
Who the virtual consult suits
- People weighing cosmetic treatment who want to understand their options before committing to an appointment.
- Anyone who feels anxious about dental visits and prefers to start the conversation from home.
- Busy patients who cannot easily take time off for an initial visit.
- People living outside Cleburne who want to know whether a trip for a consultation is worthwhile.
- Anyone who has thought "I wish I could fix my smile" but has not known where to begin.
It is not the right route for a toothache, swelling, a broken tooth or anything urgent. For those, call the office during hours or see our emergency dentistry page.
What happens after your virtual consult
If the recommendations match what you hoped for, the next step is an in-person consultation at our Cleburne office. There Dr. Zohdi examines your teeth and gums, checks your bite, takes X-rays if needed, and builds a written plan with full clinical information and fees. If the plan involves several treatments, our smile makeover planning page explains how we sequence them.
There is no obligation. Some people book the same week; others sit with the information for months. Either way, you will have a clearer idea of what is possible and what it would involve.
Your photos and privacy
Photos you send are used only to review your smile and are kept with your records like any other patient information. We will tell you the method for sending them when you call so that they travel through a channel we are comfortable with, and we will not share them or use them in any gallery without your explicit written permission.
